Classroom Knowledge
In each of the English classes, students are required to learn basic grammar skills, read 3 classic novels, and create one 5-page research paper.
The grammar skills adhere to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Found here. Although, the classes adhere to the CCSS, the instruction is varied for the students' needs.
The classic novels vary for each grade.
9th Grade: The Odyssey, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Night trilogy
10th Grade: Romeo and Juliet, Of Mice and Men, and The Crucible
11th Grade: Hamlet, Lord of the Flies, and Frankenstein
12th Grade: A Doll's House, Scarlett Letter, and 1984

Lastly, students will write a 5-page research paper on a topic of their choosing. The topic will be checked by me prior to beginning their research. Once again, the CCSS can be found here.
